GREEK FILM FEST CHICAGO! CALL FOR ENTRIES

Celebrating Hellenic StoryTelling Film Festival will run from September 29 to October 2, 2011 July 1st - The Greek Film Fest Chicago! is now accepting both short and feature-length entries for consideration. The GFFC Board of Directors is comprised of: president and co-founder, filmmaker Niko Franghias, writer-director of EmberFrames; vice president and co-founder, DePaul associate professor Alex Papadopoulos; secretary/treasurer Terry Jacobs of EmberFrames; Dino Vlahakis, owner of the Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge, Ill; Zoe Iltsopoulos Borys, Fletcher Cameras’ general manager; director’s rep and producer Valerie Gobos; Historian Tom Tzouras; Professor Zizi Papacharissi, head of the University of Illinois/Chicago’s communications department; Daily Frappe co-founder/marketing director, Kyriakos Mellos; banker and founder of The Greek Bookstore.com, Dimitris Kostopoulos who also teaches Greek language at the Hellenic American Academy; Art Andros, architect and City of Chicago project manager; and Takis Theotokatos, director of cultural programming at the Hellenic American Academy.

The Greek Film Fest Chicago! mission is: to showcase Greek films in Chicagoland by embracing Greek filmmakers from all over the world. The festival will include selections of recent narrative features, documentaries, shorts and animation along with thematic events; promote the ecumenical humane values of Hellenic Heritage within the Greek community and beyond; inspire the newer and older generations of Greek Americans and to reunite them with the Greek language, as it is spoken today, through the cinema; synergize with, and support other Greek organizations in the Chicago area; and support the universal values of freedom of expression and thought that are fundamental to good cinema.
