The Foundation Appoints Yanni Valsamas to Board of Directors
Chicago, IL - The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce that Executive Director Yanni Valsamas will be formally appointed to the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2017. Additionally, Mr. Valsamas will lead the executive search for his Executive Director replacement, since he has accepted a full-time Chief Operating Officer position with Autoagent, a property tax software company, also effective January 1, 2017.

Chairman of the Board Robert A. Buhler said, "We are delighted Yanni is being elevated to the Board, but we are sad to lose him as he embarks on this exciting new business venture, which he certainly deserves. As much as Chris Tomaras meant to the PanHellenic, Yanni Valsamas will, too, forever be known for his fifteen years dedicated to developing the PanHellenic with Chris. We wish him the best of luck with this exceptional opportunity, and will certainly draw upon his extensive PanHellenic experiences as an executive board member."

"I am privileged and humbled to have been part of this worthy organization. I am grateful that I was able to work closely with my mentor and the PanHellenic's Founder, Chris Tomaras, for many years. He will always hold a special place in my heart. I am also thankful for the opportunities that I have had to meet many wonderful people through my work at the Foundation," said Yanni. Of his new position on the Board of Directors, Yanni added, "I am honored to assume new responsibilities in my new role as a board member. I am looking forward to assisting Mr. Buhler and the rest of the board, and continuing to support the important mission of the Foundation."

During Yanni's tenure as Executive Director, the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation has grown from a local organization to a national, premier institution. Since it began awarding scholarships to Greek American undergraduates, the Foundation has awarded over $2.5 million in scholarships to 366 college students. The $250,000 in annual scholarships is the largest amount awarded to undergraduates of Hellenic descent by any foundation in the United States. The Foundation awards its scholarships at the annual Awards Ceremony & Gala, which will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Chicago Hilton.
