Orpheus 20th Year Anniversary - Skokie, IL - 4/25/2009
The Orpheus Hellenic Folklore Society of Chicago will proudly celebrate its 20th Year anniversary with a special presentation that will take place at the elegant North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the art theatrical venue. See attached flyer for additional information.



This milestone event will include live dance, song and music performances as well as audio/visual elements, a display and several other surprises. Participants will include the Society’s Youth and Adult groups, the Orpheus Music Group featuring over 15 musicians and a special choral presentation in cooperation with the Chicago Hellenic Choir.



Guest performers also include: Anna Mavrou, instructor and performer with the Lykeio of Ellinidon Branch in Kalamata, Greece; Beth Cohen and Panayioti League, folk musicians from Boston; Jim Stoynoff, a renowned clarinet musician and folk researcher in Chicago.

The Orpheus Hellenic Folklore Society of Chicago, a non-profit organization, has appeared in more than 700 events in the US, Canada and Greece over the last 20 years. It publishes a newsletter, “Lyra”, and established one of the first web sites for a folk organization. It maintains a youth group with over 100 children, an adult group with about 70 members and a music group with 20 members. A team of 13 dance instructors is responsible for lessons in two branch locations. A large costume collection is maintained at a dedicated storage facility.
